The firewall that is present in Windows 7 is on by default, but
you can change many of the firewall settings if desired. Customize three
different network profiles in Windows 7: Home, Work and Public. When
using a public network, you may choose to block any incoming
connections, but at home or work you may wish to let all incoming
connections through. There may occasionally be an individual website
that you wish to block with Windows Firewall. Do so through the Windows
Content Advisor.
